How to prepare for a successful Pilates session

Get ready for a rewarding experience with these simple guidelines. Preparing thoughtfully helps you feel comfortable, focused, and ready to get the most out of every session.

  1. 01

    What to wear

Choose clothing that allows you to move and stretch freely. Your instructor needs to see your alignment and how your muscles engage, so while loose clothing is fine, avoid anything too baggy. Pilates is typically done barefoot or in socks, so special footwear is not needed. Avoid long necklaces, belts, dangling bracelets, or accessories that may distract you or get caught in the equipment. If you have long hair, please tie it back.

  2. 02

    What to bring

Bring bottled water, Pilates can cause light dehydration. A small towel is welcome, and grip socks if you happen to own a pair; plain socks or bare feet work perfectly well.

Everything else is already here. Reformers, Towers, the Exo-Chair, mats and every prop the class calls for are provided, there is nothing you need to buy before you come.

  3. 03

    When to arrive

Arrive 10 minutes early when possible so your session can begin on time.

  4. 04

    Locker room information

Locker rooms are not available, but there is a bathroom with a shower for your use.

  5. 05

    Should you eat before class?

Avoid heavy meals right before class. A light meal with a little protein about an hour prior will support your energy without making you feel uncomfortable.

  6. 06

    Scheduling sessions

Sessions should be scheduled in advance, as times fill quickly, the studio has seven Reformers and one instructor. If you need to cancel, please provide 24 hours' notice.

Most importantly

Check with your doctor first, then come as you are

Always check with your doctor before starting Pilates, or any new exercise, especially if you have health conditions or injuries.

With proper guidance and modifications, Pilates is one of the safest, most effective ways to build strength, even during rehabilitation or with limited mobility. Cancelling a session
