Pilates Tower classes

The Tower attaches to the Reformer but gives you a stable mat surface to work from, which makes it the easiest place to start if you are new to Pilates equipment.

What is the Pilates Tower?

A stable surface, and springs that do exactly what you ask of them.

The Tower is an apparatus attached to the Reformer, but it offers a more stable surface to work from. You will sit, stand or lie down on a mat and work with resistive springs attached to the Tower to build strength, flexibility and muscular endurance, using all of the Pilates principles.

  • 01 A more secure surface. The Tower works from a stable base, so it offers participants a more secure place to build strength.
  • 02 More strength-focused. The main purpose of many exercises taught in a Tower class is to build strength and muscular endurance.
  • 03 An easier place to begin. Many of the exercises are simpler to catch on to while still teaching the Pilates principles, a challenging but adaptable workout.

What to expect

If the moving carriage of a Reformer sounds like one thing too many for a first class, this is the one to book. The mat does not move. The springs are the only variable, and Amanda sets them with you.

Expect to sit, stand and lie down across a single class, working against spring resistance for strength and muscular endurance rather than for speed. It is a Pilates class in the fullest sense, breath, centring, concentration, control, precision, rhythm and flow, taught from a surface that stays still underneath you.
